Dead Serious #021 The beginning of the party

(MP3-15.1 MB- 44min)
LISTEN
TO THE PODCAST HERE

Today’s episode is the beginning of the 21st episode celebration for Dead Serious. YES we’ve made it to 21 episodes! The show I intended to do with a range of TPN hosts has actually ‘blown out’ to multiple shows as the info these guys were willing to share was too good to end up on the ‘cutting room floor’!

My special guest today is “our Lord and Master”, Co-Founder of The Podcast Network, Cameron Reilly.

Get to know the ‘man behind the mask” of G’Day World, the Advita Show and the Father Bob Show (among others)………….Cam and I talk about:
- Indigenous issues
- Alcoholism and Alcoholics Anonymous
- Life changing experiences
- Chryogenesis
- Living to be 500 years old
- Becoming a cyborg
- “Backing up” your brain
- The future of TPN

Hear how the ‘reluctant father” became a convert to parenthood. Listen to Cameron struggle with the concept of fourth dimensional vibration.

What advice does Cameron have for kids entering the workforce? What does he think about ‘life long learning”? How does Cam “invest in his brain”? and what are his views about books?

All this and more on this 21st episode of Dead Serious……………….with up coming interviews with other TPN hosts who have challenging views on life including Wayne Turmel, Scott Sherman, Ian Dixon, Christian Payne, Des Paroz and Richard Giles. So, the celebration continues and I know you’ll enjoy finding out what makes these guys ‘tick’!

Comments and feedback (as always) are welcome.

You’ll notice there’s no music this week……….I couldn’t stop Cam long enough to include a track!

Recorded on Skylook.

I have tried many times to get your podcast.. VERY dissatified customer.. it is about 10 seconds long then that is it. I have tried the RSS feed, I have tried listening to it on your site. I have wasted 40 mins of my life trying.. but I give up.. will I come back? I dunno.. just make it work.

Sorry you’re having problems……..you are the first one I know of to have this happen,! I’ve forwarded your comment onto the tech guys at TPN and hopefully they will know what’s causing it. In the mean time, dont give up…………….
I’ll post the response when it arrives.

    Cheers,

    Molly

You were spot on with your observation that today’s youth are coming out of school without the capacity to ‘connect with books’ - and Cam’s horrified reaction is a common one, however I’m not 100% convinced that the alternatives being introduced into the education system, that (perhaps) replace or take priority from books, are a bad thing.

Interactive forms of education - worlds of data projectors, PowerPoint presentations, PDAs, and Internet research - communicate the same information to students but they’re also introducing students to the very tools that are so important to the business community - and they’re proving to educators that computers and IT have practical applications outside of a “computing studies” classroom.

Somewhat alarmingly (in retrospect), when I heard Cameron talking about throwing out his TV and spending 10% of his income on books, I immediately thought “…but the Internet would take the place of books today” - personally, this has been the case for me - I find the Internet to be a much faster and more relevant resource than a book, and I find it more accessible, more convenient, and more affordable. Perhaps I too have forgotten (or never truly realised) the value of books.

Thanks for taking the time to present this show – I can’t wait to hear the rest of the celebration series.
